Launch of SIL Mexico subsite
(January 2016) SIL Mexico announces the launch of their new website. The new site has updated information, a more modern look, and is now mobile friendly. The new site, like the old version, is fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
Major sections of new site:
- Languages and Cultures

- About ILV and SIL
The languages of Mexico encompass many rich features. An article of special interest is a recording of whistle speech with translations in Chinantec, Spanish, and English.
The new website features include:
- descriptions of twenty language families of Mexico and more detailed descriptions of many of the individual variants of these languages;
- 5,000 publications available in 190 language variants;
- a special collection of artwork designed for use in literacy materials;
- a bilingual glossary of linguistic terms;
- expanded access to academic information on language development in Mexico;
- access to SIL International’s downloadable language development software and fonts plus SIL’s publications around the world;
- optimized for a range of devices: tablets, hand-helds, as well as computers.
SIL has 80 years of language development experience serving language communities in Mexico. As a faith-based nonprofit organization, SIL works alongside language communities as they discover how to harness the power of their language to address challenges and reach their goals.
